CWYF’s Objectives:

Accomplishments to date:

1.
Meeting of the piloting committee

The Piloting Committee of the project was established in February 2006 and met April 4, 2006. The principal task of the committee is to guide the set-up of the project and to supervise all of the activities in order to assure the coherence of the project.

2.
Project launch conference

The conference was held April 11, 2006 at Hacettepe University.

3.
Selection of the target group of recipients

During the month of February 2006, the selection was made in several steps:

development of questionnaires
-
choice of interviewers
-
training of the interviewers

Here are the characteristics of the target group:

- Income: low income
-
Education: from low to average
-
Age: over 18 years old
-Working conditions: working from home

4. Social mapping study

This study was done with the aim of better knowing the characteristics of the women working from home, and this in five areas of Ankara. This study is based on the statistical analysis (SPSS) of questionnaires administered to the women from these five areas.

The results are the following:

67 euros/month thanks to their work from home

Average income of the family

444 euros/month

5. “Empowerment” and entrepreneurship training

Empowerment Training

105 women participated in this training, which was held from May 22, 2006 to June 19, 2006
 

Themes of the interventions

1. Role of the “genre”:  social position, analysis of power, sources of power, differences and similarities between men/women

2. Work life: women’s rights at work, market analysis

3. Communication, resolution of conflicts

4. Defend one’s own rights

5. Reproductive health

6. Culture and ethnicity

Entrepreneurship Training

This training was held June 19-30, 2006 and was attended by 55 women.
